Birth Doula Services

As your birth doula, I will walk with you throughout pregnancy, birth and postpartum, providing you with information and education to support you in making informed choices. I will offer emotional and physical support during your labour while simultaneously delivering reassurance and perspective to you and your partner. I will be there to hold space and help you at every step.

"A woman in birth is at once her most powerful and vulnerable, but any woman who has birth unhindered understands that we are stronger than we know"

What is a Doula?

A doula accompanies a woman throughout pregnancy and in labour to help create a deeply satisfying birth experience by providing physical, emotional, and educational support. Doulas are advocates for the birthing family rather than the healthcare provider or the hospital, prioritizing the family's needs and preferences. While doulas provide valuable information and support to help families make informed decisions, they do not assume the responsibility of making decisions on behalf of the expectant mother. Instead, they empower families by supplying the knowledge and guidance necessary for making choices that align with their unique birthing journey. Additionally, doulas do not engage in clinical tasks such as monitoring blood pressure or fetal heart rate, distinguishing their role as one of holistic support rather than medical intervention.

Education is like a compass, guiding us through the twists and turns of pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum care

From hypnobirthing classes that sprinkle magic on the mundane, to books that unlock secrets of the universe, and online resources that connect us with a world of wisdom, we have a treasure trove of knowledge at our fingertips. Armed with this knowledge, we become fierce advocates for our own well-being and that of our children. We raise our voices, ensuring they are heard, making informed decisions that shape our unique journeys.

In the midst of this Rite of Passage, we uncover a remarkable truth: our intuition is a superpower, a guiding light that leads us toward what feels right.

We tap into our deep wells of wisdom and trust ourselves, embracing the knowledge that no one knows our path better than we do. Each of us dances to the rhythm of our own heartbeats, following the whispers of our souls. There's no one-size-fits-all approach because we are all beautifully unique.

What our Time Together will Entail

Prenatal Visits

We will meet four times via Zoom from the time we start working together until you go into labour. These sessions will be tailored to your needs and can cover how you are feeling on all levels, how you are eating, drinking, and moving your body, any complaints or issues you’re experiencing and any topics that are relevant to you. The main goal is to discuss your birth options and work to create a birth vision and written plan. Other topics of discussion include hospital protocols, your partner’s role, and emotional processing that is coming up as the birth gets closer. We will use these prenatal visits to get to know each other so that we are well acquainted before sharing the intimate journey of your birth.

Online Course

As my client you will have access to my self-paced course, Release & Reignite, a healing journey that will gift you the opportunity to explore yourself on a deeper level, discovering past pains and releasing the fears and narratives that have been holding you back and keeping you from truly embodying your worth, confidence and divinity. This inner work is a courageous act as we step into motherhood because by choosing to do it we are not only showing up for ourselves but for our future children.

Community

You will also have access to my online group container, 13 Moons of Honouring the Womb: A Community Container to Nurture Expectant and Postpartum Mothers. In this space, we come together to see ourselves and one another, in the highs and the lows. Here, we say the things that need to be released with the understanding and reflection that we are still good mothers.

Breathwork

I’m currently moving through my breathwork facilitator training and will be certified end of May. However, I will be practicing come January 2024. Through working together, in addition to our 4 prenatal sessions, we can schedule breathwork sessions as well.

Labour/ Birth

I will be on call for you starting at 36 weeks. This means that I will not plan a vacation, go out of town, or do anything that would hinder my ability to be ready and able to attend your birth. I ask that you communicate with me as soon as you feel that labour has begun so that we can mutually assess how far into labour you might be, and so that I can make the necessary arrangements for my day. Calling does not mean I have to come over right away if you prefer to be alone in early labour. Once you do ask me to come to either your home, birth centre or the hospital, I will be there to advocate for you and to offer my support. We will work to keep you comfortable through various relaxation techniques, changing positions, creating a calm and quiet atmosphere, and more. I typically stay 2-3 hours after the birth of your baby when breastfeeding is well established and you’re ready to rest. In addition, I can also offer photography during labour and birth at your discretion.

Postpartum

In my birth doula package, I offer two visits after birth in the comfort of your home. I can make you a healing herb bath, offer basic breastfeeding support, answer basic newborn care questions, do light housekeeping, and provide emotional support. We can debrief your birth experience and I can help you write your story if you wish.
